Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Communication:
- Handle incoming calls with professionalism and courtesy, using assigned greetings and personal names.
- Page and contact providers as per established protocols.
- Notify all related areas of any call changes.
- Support Services:
- Perform switchboard duties as assigned.
- Provide after-hours support as directed.
- Cancel appointments upon patient request.
- Scheduling:
- Determine the purpose of calls and schedule patients in Epic for same day, same site, after hours, and immediate care.
- Update patient information, including current health insurance details and demographics.
- Reference physician and credentialing protocols to ensure accurate scheduling.
- Assist patients with obtaining appointments at other physician sites and/or scheduling laboratory or radiology tests.
- Database Management:
- Ensure that each patient entry is unique by matching designated criteria in the Epic database.
- Identify duplicate patient records and complete patient merge requests following established guidelines.
- Financial and Administrative Duties:
- Participate in the collection of patient balances.
- Utilize available materials and resources appropriately when making decisions.
- Participate in the rotation of department responsibilities and perform other related projects and duties.
