Early this year, several students nationwide became victims of a new phishing scam. According to Usatoday.com, the scammers were using a fake company name to lure in students to take on home-based work.
Students who joined this work-from-home phishing scam were required to provide their bank account details, so that the scammers could forward any stolen payroll deposits into the student’s bank account — which would make the student part of the scam.
After that, the scammers would then ask the student to wire some of the money back into their account.
