American Chronicle has an article about the popularity of Work at Home blogs. They mention that a work at home blog is a great way to connect with customers and
get a good mailing list going. They also mention that blogs are easy to publish and can be monetized with affiliate programs.

It is fairly easy to publish a blog, everything is write there for you and all you have to do is write and click to publish basically. Even adding photos and video is pretty much "point and click". Also putting up banners and links from affiliate programs and earning money is easy to do.

However, getting traffic to blogs is the hard part! But since search engines love rich, unique content, having a blog and writing on it frequently could result in good positions in search engines.
