Walletpop reports on work at home business. A man writes in to ask about whether or not he should pay money for a money back guaranteed home business idea.
Daria Dolan answers (on a video blog/vlog) that if they ask for money upfront before they give you any money, that 9/10 it's a scam. Ken and Daria say, however, that there are some legit home business opps out there like tutoring, web design, desktop publishing, etc.(Source)
The thing with home business ideas/opportunities is that most *do* require money upfront. They're not hiring you for a *job* - which usually shouldn't be money upfront - they're offering you a *business* opportunity. So if they ask for money upfront, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam. But I do agree with Daria Dolan, that if the opportunity is stating you can make $5,000 a month with little work, they are most likely a scam.
The Direct Selling Association has loads of legitimate work from home business opportunities. I highly suggest checking them out if you're looking for a home business opp.
