Kingman, AZ Warns of Work at Home Scams

Kingman Daily Miner has an article reporting that the Kingman Police Department has seen an increase in work from home and lottery scams in Kingman, Arizona.

The scams are coming via the phone, internet, mail, etc.

The scam involves convincing a Kingman resident to deposit a check for a large sum of money into their bank account, withdraw some of the money and then transfer the money to a different location. Meanwhile the resident is supposedly allowed to keep the rest of the money that wasn't withdrawn.

A little while later, perhaps a few weeks, the Kingman resident finds out the check was fraudulent and is then responsible for the money.(Source)

Wow! How awful. But if someone ever asks you to deposit a check for them, especially if you don't know them, it is wise NOT to do it! I mean it would seem very suspicious to me, some random person email me or calling me saying "Hey, I have a check $$$$. Deposit it for me, take some cash out; send it to me, and then keep the rest of the money!" Sounds too weird and suspect to me. So watch out for things like that!

On the bright side, there still *are* LEGITIMATE work at home jobs out there. This website has many! Check out the Work From Home section!
