The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) Department of Communications and Marketing is seeking a Web Content and Social Media Specialist.
The Web Content and Social Media Specialist creates and/or acquires content for websites, email newsletters and other online communications. This role also conducts regular audits of the SMHS site, builds site maps for new sites, and ensures that all digital content is timely, relevant, effective, and formatted for the web.
Responsibilities Include:
Writes copy for all SMHS digital outlets as needed – including websites, social media networks, and digital publications – and coordinates with other members of the SMHS Communications team to keep digital materials timely
Manages content to ensure that language is compelling and achieves the marketing objectives of SMHS
Assists with all aspects of online marketing campaigns for SMHS web presence
Works directly with SMHS offices, departments, and centers and institutes to ensure that branding and language about SMHS meets the University’s guidelines
Audits all SMHS websites and creates, edits, reorganizes, and improves upon web content as needed using Drupal Content Management Systems
Prepares and studies websites and social media analytics, using the information to brief the communications and web team, and help inform goals, policy, strategy, and decision making
Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
